The Benefits of Speaking a Second Language
A second language, we all encounter it at some point in our lives. Whether is in middle or high school. In our first trip abroad, with new friends, or a new love and, or moving to a different country.
There are total of between 3,000 and 7,000 languages in the world. Some are similar and some are two worlds apart. But they exist.
Among the most popular are: English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Russian, Portuguese and Italian.
Here in the U.S the most spoken are besides English, is Spanish. It is everywhere we go. When we are out eating, shopping and working. This is only the beginning soon there will be many other languages that will be just as vital to Americans. Why?
This country is a country of immigrants and there will be a lot more people coming to it.
The last wave was from Latin America but in five or ten years it might be completely different.
What must we learn from this? If is too late for us to learn or pick up on a second language, let’s encourage our kids to speak at least two but preferably three languages.
This will give them a huge advantage over anyone, it will broad their horizons, and make them more successful. There is a huge demand for multilingual workforce.
The world is more open every day that goes by it becomes more Globalized, take advantage of the resources that you have at hand to pick up on something new, and definitely encourage your kids to do so as well, the chance for opportunity is enormous.
