Bad Beat Accumulation Days

It just seems like some days on the internet, you cannot win. Though it would be preposterous to assume some reason for accumulating horrific beats and having them executed on one particular day, it seems to occur semi-frequently. Also, it seems like if you call a raise with a speculative hand that you “should not be calling with”, and flop it big, you will not be allowed to win the hand.

Yesterday I was playing a $39 6-handed turbo sit and go pokern game. The first player got knocked out holding kings against pocket aces and got it all in preflop. There is no reason to play it that way if you’re holding aces or kings, but this is understandable. We battle around a bit and I accumulate some more poker chips and dump some back, leaving me with a 1650 chip stack at 50/100 blinds to begin this hand.

In the big blind I am holding Jd,9s. The button makes it 300, I call. Flop 8dQh10d I flopped the nut straight. I’m assuming the preflop aggressor will continue bet regardless if he hit or not, and might even have a straight or flush draw. I check. He bets 600 and I insta-shove for 1350; he calls. He shows Qd,Ks, for top pair. Turn 9d River Jh The straight made it on the board, and his King played for a higher straight. Mind you, I was holding 2 of the outs that he needed for the runner runner straight which he caught. I went from a 91% favorite on the flop, to a 77% favorite on the turn (with a straight flush draw) and I lose on the river. Gross.

Later that afternoon I played in a 9-handed turbo sit and go and called a raise with K,10 off suit. I flopped 2 pair, K,10, 5. I bet out in first position, got raised, pushed all in, and was called. The preflop aggressor had QQ and, of course, he caught a 2 outter as a Queen hit on the turn. This left me with only 2 Kings to improve my hand, and I did not catch them.
