From Arts and Film to Education

Courtney Sale Ross is actively involved in her community and serves causes that put emphasis on wellness, international relations, and education. Ross is a member of the United Nations Association of the United States of America, the Committee on U.S./China Relations, the Asia Society, the Brain and Creativity Institute at the University of Southern California, and the board for the New York University.

Before Ross became passionate on educational causes, she founded a contemporary art gallery in Dallas, Texas. Likewise, Ross produced a number of films, one of which was “Listen Up! The Lives of Quincy Jones”, released in 1990.

A graduate of Skidmore College, Courtney Sale Ross received her honorary doctoral degree in 1991. She is known in social and civic circles as the widow of Time Warner’s former CEO and chairman, Steven J. Ross.

For more than 16 years now, Courtney Sale Ross has been an innovative leader in education reform. Early on in her life, Ross recognized the need to encourage students to surge along and meet the challenges of the 21st century. She also believes that there is a need for intensive research by various educational pioneers in order to effect changes in the system of education.

Today, Courtney Sale Ross runs three institutes, Ross School, Ross Global Academy, and Ross Institute, all sharing the mission and vision of encouraging cultural understanding through the process of globalization.
